EMMA

ND, Dip NT, Dip Ac

I have recently completed 3 years of study in Acupuncture and Naturopathy, after having
been qualified as a Nutritional Therapist since 2015.

I’m registered with several professional
bodies (ANP, NNA & AA), and adhere to their codes of conduct and best practice to ensure I
offer a safe, ethical and effective practice. I am fully insured and DBS checked.

ETHOS

I’m passionate about making healthcare more accessible, and acupuncture in a community
setting really reflects the way I like to work. I value sharing knowledge with patients, while
also learning from their experiences and working collaboratively with them. What interests
me most about acupuncture is that it goes far beyond the needles. Together with my
background in naturopathic nutrition, the TCM principles underlying acupuncture allow me to
support each person as a whole.

BACKGROUND

Aside from my training and practice in natural health, I have a long career in the museum
sector, specialising in art, and my first degree was in Fine Art Printmaking followed by PG
Dip in Museum Studies. Although this may seem completely disconnected, there is a clear
benefit to having creative skills and an aptitude for research and interpretation when thinking
about TCM because the theory can feel complex, yet the underlying principles are simple
and intuitive.

Working as a curator has also connected me to the local community which is a
fundamental motivation for working in both sectors, as well as having a great interest in
cultural history, ethics and conservation.

AREAS OF INTEREST

As someone who lives with a neuromuscular disease, I’m particularly interested in
musculoskeletal conditions and chronic pain, and I continue to develop my expertise in this
field through research, CPD and personal development. Supporting people affected by
cancer is also a key focus of my ongoing professional development.

I also offer 1:1 consultations which blend acupuncture, naturopathy and nutrition. Please do get in touch if you’d like to find out more at emma.acu.nut@gmail.com

LIFE INTERESTS

I spend most of my free time reading, researching, cooking, drawing and hanging out with
friends and cats (often they are one and the same thing!). Days out with friends to
exhibitions, or for walks on the beach are the best days, especially when there is cake or a
glass of wine in there somewhere. I still love printmaking, mostly monoprinting and drypoint
and sometimes teach it.
